The annual book presentation of ELTE University, Faculty of Law was held on June 23, 2022. It is a great honor that the monograph of the lawyer of our office, Dr. Bernadett Bárányos was also included in the program. Published by ELTE Eötvös Publishing House and titled "Criminal protection of honor in the case of statements affecting public affairs. Criminal courts in the grip of fundamental legal requirements and dogmatics", the volume is based on the doctoral dissertation of Dr. Bárányos, which she defended in 2020 with 100%. The volume was presented by university professor Dr. Norbert Kis, who emphasized that the criminal law literature had waited 60 years to elaborate on the topic. The author sensibly showed that the information revolution and the fundamental legal requirements have scratched the dogmatics of criminal law, which were believed to be solid. He mentioned that the author discussed in detail the decisions of the American and German constitutional courts, the practice of the European Court of Justice, and then examined which model the Hungarian Constitutional Court drew inspiration from, and in the second half of the volume she presented the factual elements of defamation, and the grounds that preclude criminality transformation. Two hundred judgments formed the basis of this work. Dr. Norbert Kis welcomed the fact that the author uses her knowledge both as a lawyer and as an educator, and tries to demand from both the courts and the students thorough thinking imbued with the culture of fundamental rights.
